- UFC. Dana White sees Jon Jones vs Alex Pereira as a possibility
Salford-born fighter Tom Aspinallwill defend his interim UFC heavyweight title against Curtis Blaydes in Saturday's much-anticipated co-main event.
Paddy Pimblett is also on the UFC 304 card, facing Bobby Green in what many believe is the biggest fight of his career so far. Additionally, Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad will go head-to-head for a second time.
Edwards, Muhammad, Aspinall, and others took the stage on Thursday to answer media questions.
During the press conference, Dana White was asked if the winner of Aspinall vs. Blaydes would face the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic, expected later this year. White's quick affirmative response brought loud cheers from the arena.
Tom Aspinall doesn't believe fight with Jon Jones will happen
Despite the excitement, Aspinall is skeptical about a fight with Jones happening.
"No, it's not going to happen, mate," he told Main Event's Fight Week program.
"It's not happening, and I'm not bothered about it. I'd love that fight, and I've made it obvious it's the fight I wanted, and still want of course.
"But, I dunno... I'm shooting in the dark with that one... there's nothing going on with that."
Aspinall believes Blaydes will present a tough test
Aspinall acknowledges that Blaydes will be a formidable opponent. He believes Saturday's fight will be tougher than facing Jones, who is widely regarded as the greatest mixed martial artist in history.
"I don't know how Jon Jones looks at heavyweight," Aspinall told Sky Sports.
"We've seen him at heavyweight for 1-2 minutes. As a heavyweight, Curtis Blaydes has proven multiple times that he is elite. And he is in his prime, unlike Jon Jones."
