UFC 306 is a few hours away as Sean O'Malley prepares to defend his legacy against Merab Dvalishvili in the bantamweight division this Saturday, September 14 but what are the important fights for this weekend?
O'Malley claimed his championship belt on August 19, 2023 when he stopped Aljamain Sterling and will risk it once again at the Sphere in Las Vegas, with the fight available for pay-per-view purchase via ESPN.
Looking to become a UFC champion for the first time is Dvalishvili (17-4-0), a Georgian feared grappler known for his exceptional endurance, granite chin and willingness to never give up on a bout.
"He's ranked number one. He's on a 10-fight win streak," O'Malley told TMZ Sports. "The only reason he's never fought for a title or was never the champion is because Aljamain Sterling was there."
O'Malley added: "He's as dangerous as it gets. Cardio machine. He doesn't get tired. He's been rocked a few times, but he's got a good chin.
"He got rocked hard from Marlon Reyes and ended up finishing him. So he's very durable. He's got good cardio. He's obviously skilled. He's on a 10-fight win streak. He's very, very dangerous."

But they are not the only fighters on the card and whilst they will surely attract the headlines at UFC 306, here are the other bouts happening inside the octagon you should keep your eyes out for on September 14.
In the women's flyweight category, Alexa Grasso defends her belt against Valentina Shevchenko in a rematch of the March 2023 clash that saw Grasso take the title from the Ukrainian, who held it from 2018.
Additionally, Brian Ortega will look to stop Diego Lopes in the featherweight division as the ranked third fighter looks to set up a shot at Ilia Topuria and the belt. Lopes, meanwhile, is ranked 13th as the Brazilian bids to make Dana White very much aware of his name.
Elsewhere the 15-1 Daniel Zellhuber takes on Esteban Ribovics in the lightweight division and Ronaldo Rodriguez takes on Ode Osbourne in a flyweight bout to close out the main card.
