- WNBA. Angel Reese gets dinner invitations after social media post
Angel Reese, known for her dominant rebounding and double-doubles, has faced criticism for her shooting struggles.
While her impressive 446 rebounds in a season earned her recognition, questions arose about her shooting, with some fans accusing her of "stat padding" due to many offensive boards coming from her missed shots. Despite these critiques, Reese remains one of the most talented players in the league.
However, with her recent draft into Team Rose, Reese has an opportunity to develop her game under the guidance of seasoned players like Chelsea Gray and Kahleah Copper.
Head coach Nola Henry believes that training alongside Gray, a three-time WNBA champion and Finals MVP, will speed up Reese's growth, particularly in improving her shooting and understanding the game's angles.
Team Rose experience will be vital for Reese
Gray, known for her scoring ability and sharp shooting, has been integral to the success of the Las Vegas Aces, averaging 12 points and 5 assists per game over 10 seasons.
Her experience will help Reese refine her game, especially in shooting, where Reese has struggled with a 39.1 percent field goal percentage and a mere 18.8 percent from three-point range.
"I think Chelsea Gray will definitely help Angel's development... It'll speed up her development, not just from a leadership standpoint, but also understanding the angles of the floor, and understanding screening," Henry explained.
In addition to Gray, veteran Kahleah Copper, a key player for the Phoenix Mercury, also provides a wealth of knowledge. Copper's impressive 43.5 percent shooting and 80.7 percent free-throw accuracy will be invaluable as Reese works to improve her shooting consistency.
Reese, who has been criticized for rebounding her own missed shots, has taken proactive steps to address this issue.
Recent training videos showed her working on long-range shooting, signaling her commitment to improving her weaknesses. As she continues to develop under the mentorship of Gray and Copper, Reese is poised to become an even more well-rounded player, silencing critics and proving her value in the WNBA.
With the Unrivaled season, fans are hopeful that Reese's shooting will improve, allowing her to fully harness her talent and contribute to Team Rose's success.
