- Boxing. Beterbiev's middle finger to Canelo Alvarez: He prefers to fight Dmitry Bivol in 2024
Out of all the opponents Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has fought, perhaps Shane Mosley is one f the most difficult fights he had. Alvarez was only 21 when that fight took place against a 40-year-old Mosley in the twilight of his career. Although Canelo won that fight, Mosley had first-row tickets to see the young boxer's skills back then. More than a decade has ed since that fight took place and Mosley believes David Benaviez has what it takes to put on a show against Alvarez. In a recent interview on Fight Hype, Mosley explained what makes Benavidez so dangerous for Canelo. He also talked about David's recent victory against Demetrius Andrade.
Mosley thinks Benavidez could beat Canelo
Here's what Mosley said: "Benavidez is a beast. Not just when he's fighting but all the time. He has that mentality, and I love watching fighters like that. It was kind of hard for Boo Boo (Andrade) to do because it's not his style. He is not as big as David, but he still fought and gave his all. Canelo is going to be a good fight too because he isn't going to be able to sit back and just counter punch. He's going to have to fight the whole time. It's going to be a great fight. I'm not saying he's going to walk through him like he did Boo Boo. But I'm saying it's going to be a great fight. I know Canelo can crack and he has good counter punches. I've been in the ring with him.
To fisnish off his thoughts, Mosley also talked about Benavidez's greatest advantage against Alvarez: "Canelo is very fast. He has good power and good ring IQ. I still think Benavidez might be a little too big for him. He's too tall, his arms are too long. That might be a problem. It seemed like it was a problem when Canelo fought Bivol."
