Although the fight between Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez and Terence Crawford is not yet official, but it has already become a controversial topic, adding to the list of criticisms against the Mexican boxer.

Golovkin's Former Coach Launches Fierce Criticism

Ahead of what could be a highly anticipated showdown for many, Abel Sánchez, the former trainer of Gennady Golovkin, has made harsh comments about Canelo, calling the potential matchup "ridiculous" and stating that the two fighters are entirely different. Sánchez even said he wouldn't pay to watch the fight.

"The fight he has lined up after Scull (against Crawford) seems ridiculous to me. They are two completely different people. Canelo has taken punches from big guys, and no one has hurt him, so I don't think this fight should happen. I've said it from the beginning, but the money is there for both of them, so it's happening, even though it's not a fight I would pay to watch," the Mexican coach told BoxingNews.

Canelo Will Dominate Crawford

Sánchez further stated that while he doesn't doubt Crawford's talent, the weight difference will significantly impact the fight, with Canelo likely delivering a severe beating.

"Yes, I think Canelo will stop him," Sánchez said. "And it's not because Terence isn't talented. Terence is a skilled fighter, but we're talking about a big man, used to fighting against other big guys. Eventually, he'll catch Crawford, punish him, and hurt him."

Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez in Training

Currently, the Mexican boxer is in training camp, fine-tuning the details for his fight against William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He will aim to unify the four super middleweight titles for the second time, defending his WBC, WBA, and WBO belts, while Scull holds the IBF title.
