This Monday, an unprecedented matchup will take place: Tom Brady versus Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. But this won't be in a football game (because we already know how that would end) or showcasing their acting skills. Instead, it will be during the match between Birmingham City and Wrexham, where they are shareholders.
On the official Wrexham AFC on X, they decided to stir up the match by inviting Eli Manning to be part of the team's fanbase. This was either a joke or a friendly provocation towards Brady, as some NFL fans consider Manning one of the greatest quarterbacks in history.
Both Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney added their reactions to the post. In the case of the "Deadpool" actor, he said: "This one hits right in the landing zone," referring to the fact that they likely achieved their goal of annoying Brady.
McElhenney, on the other hand, did not hesitate to address the former Tampa Bay and Patriots quarterback directly. "Tom, I'm sure we both see this face in our nightmares, but I'm starting to like him," Rob added.
Brady did not stay silent and also responded to Manning, Reynolds, and McElhenney's provocations via X with a video. In the video, Tom takes out his Vince Lombardi trophy and boasts that he cannot find "the other 6 like that." He then addresses Rob, asking him to properly educate the Wrexham fans about NFL history.
"Rob, can you just educate the Wrexham fans a little bit on the history of the NFL? Thanks, bud, appreciate it. See you on Monday," Brady said.
Rob McElhenney is one of the biggest fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. Therefore, he greatly enjoyed the 2017 Super Bowl when his team defeated Tom Brady's New England Patriots 41-33.
The history of the owners of Birmingham and Wrexham
Tom Brady decided to invest in Birmingham City by purchasing a 3.3% stake in August 2023. His role, beyond being a shareholder, is that of chairman of the advisory board, which aims to apply his experience and history of success to identify areas of improvement for the team.
Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are the majority owners of Wrexham, having acquired it in November 2020. In four seasons at the helm of the Welsh team, they have achieved two promotions, taking them to League One.
