David Beckham and Gary Neville plan to take Salford City to new heights after completing the acquisition of the League Two team as part of a new consortium that has pledged to inject significant funds to grow the club, according to The Athletic.

Beckham and Neville were already co-owners of the north-west England club along with other former Manchester United team-mates such as Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes, who have just relinquished their stakes in the club

Since majority shareholder Peter Lim's exit in 2024, Beckham and Neville have spent months searching for investment partners who they believe could give Salford the best chance of success on and off the pitch.

Beckham and Neville finally decided to forces with Declan Kelly, founder of US advisory firm Consello, and Lord Mervyn Davies, chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association. Both will co-chair Salford's board.
