It's almost time for the 2024 Emmy Awards to take place as countless stars and excellent TV shows battle it out for one of the most famous prizes in the industry on Sunday, September 15 but who is tipped to win?
Voting has now been closed for the ceremony and we wait to see who has emerged triumphant from his shows such as Baby Reindeer, The Bear and The Crown as well as the actors and actresses claiming the prizes.
FX's Shogun, based on Japanese history and also based on the 1975 novel of the same name by James Clavell, leads the nominations as just the second non-English language show to ever be nominated following Squid Game.
It's followed hotly by The Bear, starring Jeremy Allen White, which has an impressive 25 nominations whilst The Crown, Baby Reindeer and Fallout share the spoils behind FX shows with five each.
In the battle between Netflix and FX, it's the latter that wins out too, edging past Netflix with an extra four nominations (27 to 23), teeing up a thrilling 2024 Emmys between two industry powerhouses.
Who will be picked as the television shows at the 2024 Emmy Awards?
A total of eight shows have been nominated for best Drama TV series and they are The Crown, Shogun, The Gilded Age, Fallout, The Morning Show, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Slow Horses and 3 Body Problem and we tip Shogun to win the prize after another strong year.
Whilst in the best Comedy Series category, Allen White's The Bear is expected to emerge triumphant by beating out Abbott Elementary, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs, Only Murders in the Building and What We Do in the Shadows.
Baby Reindeer's shocking based-on-true-events story of a man being stalked and attacked by a woman in the United Kingdom captured television sets around the world in the first half of the year and it's expected to win the prize for best Limited Series.
Scoop starring Billie Piper, followed how the BBC landed their infamous 2019 interview with Prince Andrew regarding the Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre case, is expected to win best TV Movie after being a hit on Netflix.
Whilst The Daily Show can be expected to win best Variety Talk Series, with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver tipped to become the best Scripted Variety Series. Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer is favorite for the Best Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), with The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady expected to win best Variety Special (Live).
Who will be voted best actors and the actresses at the 2024 Emmy Awards?
Some excellent names feature in the nominations for best Lead Actor (Drama) such as Idris Elba, Donald Glover and Gary Oldman but it's likely to be Hiroyuki Sanada to take the prize for his starring role in FX's Shogun.
Look to Imelda Staunton (The Crown) to push Anna Sawai (Shogun) close for best actress in the battle of the period dramas but it's looking likely Shogun will take a Lead Drama double on September 15.
The best ing Actor and Actress in a Drama Series will likely go to Billy Crudup in The Morning Show and Elizabeth Debicki from The Crown should collect the award for her emotional portrayal of Princess Diana.
