Thanksgiving is here and many people are making plans for the holiday, whether it's gathering with family and friends, preparing a festive meal, or taking advantage of special deals offered by retailers. However, with the diversity in business practices, it's important to know which stores, restaurants, and services will be open or closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Several national retailers and grocery stores have opted to close their doors on Thanksgiving, signaling a shift in consumer habits and a recognition of the importance of providing employees with a day off to spend with loved ones.

Notable closures include Walmart, Target, Costco, Sam's Club, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Ace Hardware (with the majority of stores closing).

While some major retailers choose to remain closed, certain businesses have decided to stay open, providing options for last-minute shoppers or those in need of essential items. Bass Pro Shop, Cabela's, and Big Lots are among the stores planning to welcome customers on Thanksgiving Day.

In the realm of grocery stores, the Kroger family of stores, Meijer, Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Shaw's, Vons, Tom Thumb, Sprouts Farmers Market, Wegman's, Giant Eagle, and Whole Foods are some of the establishments that will be open on Thanksgiving, albeit with adjusted hours. On the flip side, Publix, Trader Joe's, and Aldi have chosen to close their doors for the holiday.

Restaurants are a mixed bag, with some opting to remain open to cater to those looking for a break from cooking. Starbucks, Dunkin', Taco Bell, Cracker Barrel, Burger King, Popeyes, Krispy Kreme, IHOP, Waffle House, Fogo de Chao, White Castle, Golden Corral, Hooters, Red Lobster, and Whataburger are among the establishments planning to serve customers on Thanksgiving Day. However, others like Chick-fil-A and Chipotle have chosen to close for the holiday.
