The future is bright for the Colorado Buffaloes football program after an impressive 2024 season led by "Coach Prime" Deion Sanders and stellar performances by Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and superstar quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Even though both of them left college and are projected to be the No.1 and No. 2 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, Colorado had a very good g period as they landed 5-star quarterback Julian Lewis and eigh other players who are rated as 4-star recruits.
Lewis is the third 5-star recruit signed by "Coach Prime" alongside Travis Hunter (a 5-star out of the transfer portal, ing him from Jackson State) in 2023 and offensive tackle Jordan Seaton in 2024. Sanders now has three of the five 5-star recruits credited to Colorado by the services.
Lewis gets warned by one of Sanders' coaching staff
Julian Lewis is a rhytm and timing er with comparable athletic traits to Shedeur Sanders but is maybe not as resourceful when things break down, according to recruits. He's a right-handed version of Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, they added.
Lewis landed on Colorado Tuesday night but before that, he got his truck delivered to his new home, a beautiful black RAM 1500 TRX that uses a supercharged, 6.2-liter Hemi V(, generating a staggering 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
Corey Philips, director of player personnel at Colorado Buffaloes football program, was in charge of making sure that the Lewis' TRX got home safe, not without giving the young quarterback a 'warning' in a brief video that he posted on Instagram.
"Hey, somebody call my young boy and tell him that I'm gonna hold the truck for ransom, I need to hold some, Julian." Philips stated. He then added "if your director of player personnel don't get out in the snow when you are moving to college for the first time and get your truck delivered for you, he don't really love you. I'm here for my people, you dig?".
Lewis took the video with humor and reposted the video on his IG with the caption "Chill unc!".
The young quarterback's resume
Julian Lewis was named an unanimous top-10 quarterback in the Class of 2025, including No. 2 by ESPN and No. 3 by Rivals. ESPN rated Lewis as the No. 2 player and quarterback in the country and the No. 1 player from Georgia with a 93 overall rating.
Lewis is the fourth top 25 recruit to commit to Colorado in the ESPN 300 era (since 2006) and the highest to commit to Colorado. Three have committed since Coach Prime came to Colorado.
Rivals listed him as the No. 6 player in the class, the No. 3 quarterback, and the top player from Georgia. On3 rated Julian as the No. 59 player in the country, the No. 10 quarterback, and the No. 7 player from Georgia.
247 Sports listed Lewis as the No. 115 in the nation, the No. 9 quarterback, and the No. 14 player from Georgia. The 247 Sports Composite has him as a four-star prospect and the No. 36 player in the country. He also finished as the No. 6 ranked quarterback and overall player in the state of Georgia.
He's gonna have to compete for the quarterback starting position with Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter, who only has one year of college eligibility left and who's not looking to seat on the bench next season. He's a dual-threat quarterback who led Liberty to a 21-4 record the past two seasons with his legs and arm.
