Deion Sanders is always in control. Whether guiding his team from the sidelines or pushing his brand on social media, Coach Prime is always two steps ahead of everyone else. However, lately, his future seems intertwined with a factor that even he can't fully control: Shedeur's NFL fate.
Shedeur is a hot commodity heading into the 2025 draft, but Deion is no slouch either. Following Black Monday, several teams are in the market for a head coach, including the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys.
As expected, Sanders' name began to be mentioned as a candidate for virtually all of them. However, the rumor mill insists on linking him specifically with the Dallas Cowboys. The problem? It's Shedeur... or at least that's what his brother, Shilo, claims.

Shedeur aims too high: Shilo
In an interview for the Overtime podcast, Shilo talked about the chances of his father coaching an NFL team. The answer poked fun at his brother, but also revealed the reason Sanders Sr. won't be jumping to the NFL, at least not this season.
"Shedeur's the problem; he's going too high!"Shilo said, referring to his brother almost certainly being a top-five draft pick. This practically eliminates the possibility of Deion coaching the Cowboys for several reasons.
The first reason is that Coach Prime has repeatedly said he will only coach an NFL team if his sons are on it. This leads us directly to the second reason: the Cowboys have the 12th pick in this draft. Shedeur will never slip that low, and Dallas is unlikely to sacrifice what it takes to get to him.
A miracle is still possible
However, some analysts say there is still a chance that both Sanders could land in Irving in August. Deion has also said several times that he will not allow Shedeur to play for a team with managerial problems, bad coaching, or a toxic locker room.
All top-five teams in the draft meet one of these conditions. In this way, they all clash with Coach Prime's great mantra, "Don't just be good; be great. Control your destiny." If Sanders has his way, perhaps the impossible will happen, and we will see the father-son duo debut in the NFL this year.
