Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has been on an emotional rollercoaster. His year got off to the best possible start when Ohio State defeated Notre Dame 34-21 to win the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Overcoming a season of challenges with tough rivals, beating Tennessee, Oregon, Texas and Notre Dame along the way, the team certainly has the mental toughness to turn any situation around.

Ryan is having a great time, and he made that clear.

"I'm definitely more relaxed," Day told a reporter at last Monday's press conference.

A break for his family

'It has been a roller coaster, to say the least," his wife Nina said after the Ohio State win in January.

Ryan suffered too much after the loss to Michigan, the Ohio fans turned their backs on him, and some of the fans insulted him and threatened to kill him.

"They told Ryan several times to follow in his father's footsteps and commit suicide," his wife Nina confessed. Day's father committed suicide when he was 8.

Through it all, he persevered

"I want to reiterate my love for Buckeye Nation, and there have been some incredible people in this community that have ed us. There are people who have ed us unconditionally,"Nina said of the she received.

Ryan Day will not come out and proudly stand up and say that he has silenced the critics, but in a way those who understand his situation know that he is a gentleman and will not add fuel to the fire.

This championship silenced his haters, the pressure he was under was unreal and yet he was able to get up and plan everything to perfection with this championship. Because in sports you can't lose your head over a loss, it's all about winning or losing, but the most important thing is to face it in the best possible way.

Ryan not only left a winning message and one that silenced people, but also one of overcoming adversity and getting up and facing it all.
