The Las Vegas Raiders could be ready to make one of the boldest moves of the 2025 NFL Draft - and it would have the fingerprints of both legendary coach Pete Carroll and part-owner Tom Brady all over it.

According to NFL analyst Rhett Lewis, the Raiders may look to trade up from their current No. 6 overall pick to secure Travis Hunter, the two-way phenom from Colorado, widely regarded as the most versatile and electrifying player in the 2025 draft class.

Hunter's ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball - starring as a defensive back and wide receiver - has made him arguably the most talked-about prospect ahead of April's draft in Green Bay.

Speaking to NFL insider Tom Pelissero on The Insiders, Lewis explained why the Raiders could look to strike a deal with the Cleveland Browns, who currently hold the No. 2 pick.

"I think this is a draft that maybe doesn't have as many up there elite top-tier blue chip type of players, but Travis Hunter is certainly one of those guys. He feels like one of these guys that you would move up to go and get," Lewis said.

Pete Carroll's fearless vision for Hunter at Raiders

New Raiders head coach Pete Carroll is no stranger to maximizing unique talent, having built a Hall of Fame resume on developing versatile stars during his time with the Seattle Seahawks.

Lewis believes Carroll would not hesitate to unleash Hunter's talents on both offense and defense, should the Raiders pull off a trade.

"It's not a huge jump from six to two for the Raiders to go up and make that move with the Cleveland Browns," Lewis continued. "And it just so happens to solve, like, two fairly big needs for them. And I feel like Pete Carroll is a coach that is going to be unafraid ing Travis Hunter full go on both sides of the ball, DB and receiver."

However, Lewis did caution that the Raiders would likely need to give up a 2026 first-round pick to secure the deal - a price he believes would still be worth paying for a once-in-a-generation player like Hunter.

"I think you would take Travis Hunter, the wide receiver in the first round," Lewis added, emphasizing Hunter's offensive capabilities.

Patriots and Giants also in the Travis Hunter mix

The Raiders aren't the only team eyeing Hunter ahead of draft night. The New England Patriots, who hold the No. 4 pick, could also emerge as serious contenders to land the Colorado star - especially if the New York Giants opt to draft Penn State's Abdul Carter, potentially leaving Hunter on the board.

Meanwhile, the Browns are in desperate need of a quarterback, with many projections linking them to Shedeur Sanders, Hunter's Colorado teammate. If that happens, the window could be wide open for another team to trade up for Hunter.

The Patriots have been rumored as a possible landing spot for Hunter in recent months, while former Titans coach Mike Vrabel was also said to be exploring the possibility before parting ways with Tennessee.

With the 2025 NFL Draft just weeks away, one thing is certain - Travis Hunter is shaping up to be the most coveted non-quarterback prospect on the board, and Tom Brady's Raiders may be ready to make their move to bring him to Las Vegas.
