Dennis "D.J." Hernandez, the older brother of Aaron Hernandez, has been arrested again under concerning circumstances.
The Bristol Police Department documents reveal that he may have been planning school shootings at UConn and Brown University, indicating that he posed a grave risk to society.
The police were alerted by several individuals in early July who reported D.J.'s erratic behavior and alarming text messages. One of the texts allegedly mentioned taking lives if certain demands were not met, claiming that the plan had been in preparation for years, gathering information on names and locations.
According to a woman claiming to be D.J.'s ex, he skipped his scheduled court appearance and instead went to Brown University and UConn, entering various classrooms and buildings. This led people to suspect he might be plotting school shootings at these campuses.
Further adding to the concern, D.J. posted threatening messages on social media, including a statement about being willing to kill and warning enemies to pay up front.
When police confronted D.J. at a residence, a tense standoff ensued. He warned the officers that he was armed and would harm them if they approached him.
After refusing to comply with police commands, he was tasered and apprehended. Even at the hospital for evaluation, D.J. continued making threats, mentioning a desire to harm anyone who profited from his brother Aaron, specifically mentioning ESPN.
D.J. has been charged with threatening and breach of peace and was held on a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled for a court hearing next week.
