- NFL. NFL Injury Report Fantasy: What happens if a Fantasy player is injured during a game?
There's a video of Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon trying to fire up his team that's been making the rounds on the internet. And well, let's just say it's not exactly inspiring. In the video, taken from the show "Cardinals Flight Plan," Gannon asks his players if they have "fire in your gut" and then declares: "I'm looking for f**king killers." The problem? He says it in the flattest tone possible.
Is not that the guy doesn't know what he's doing. He did help lead the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl as their defensive coordinator just last season. But when it comes to giving a rousing speech, he falls short. In fact, his attempt is pretty sad.
If you compare Gannon's lackluster delivery to Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell's trademark style, there's just no contest. If Campbell had given that same speech, I'd be ready to run through a brick wall. But with Gannon, I'm more likely to nod off.
It's not just about the words you say; it's how you say them. And unfortunately for Gannon, his delivery leaves a lot to be desired. As one Twitter put it: "He sounds like he's reading a grocery list."
He's developing a solid defense in Arizona
But let's give credit where credit is due. Gannon may not have the most inspiring delivery, but he clearly knows how to coach a successful defense. And at the end of the day, that's what really matters.
So, while we may not be ready to go to battle after hearing one of Gannon's speeches, we can at least take comfort in knowing that he's got the skills to back up his words on the field. And who knows, maybe he'll work on his delivery and surprise us all with a truly inspiring speech one day. Until then, we'll just have to settle for a good defense and hope our caffeine levels are high enough to keep us awake during team meetings.
