The future of Dak Prescott at the Dallas Cowboys seems to rest on the franchises chances of getting Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The form that Sanders showed in a poor Colorado Buffaloes team in 2023 really elevated his status in the game and it seems that Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner, is a huge fan of Coach Prime's son.
While he did become the most sacked QB in 2023 with a huge 52 sacks, he also got in around 30+ touchdowns with 3200+ yards under his belt.
Aaron Torres put it into simple on his show at the time: "If that is an overrated season, I think every QB in America would love to have that down season."
Jones wants Sanders
Clearly Jones shares this opinion as he really likes Sanders, and NFL Rookie Watch reported on August 12th that Jones wants Shedeur on the team in 2025.
"Shedeur Sanders is reportedly a "top prospect" in the eyes of Jerry Jones (Cowboys owner), according to several NFL scouts," Rookie Watch had mentioned in their post on X.
They would not be bringing Sanders in to play second fiddle to Prescott, though, which means that Dak may have just one year left to prove to Jones that he is untouchable and Sanders should be looking elsewhere.
The 31-year-old QB, who's been nursing a sore right ankle, reappeared to address the media, confidently declaring to ESPN's Todd Archer that his ankle is "one thousand percent" good to go.
Prescott's return to practice is slated for Tuesday, marking his first full participation in training camp since 2021.
But don't expect to see him take the field anytime soon. Word on the street is that the Cowboys are planning to keep their prized quarterback under wraps until the regular season kicks off.
