The Dallas Cowboys could be heading towards a very disappointing NFL season with some of their best players left angry with ongoing contract discussions.

Owner Jerry Jones has decided to take an incredibly stubborn approach to contracts for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Deion Sanders should be next Cowboys coach over Bill Belichick, says RG3

Prescott has now ed up with the team at the pre-season camp but there is a stalemate between Jones and Lamb, and people are not impressed.

Jones told the press recently that he is in no rush to extend Lamb's contract and that clearly amused the wide receiver as he responded to the comments online with the simple message: "lol".

Jones sticks to his guns

When analysts started questioning Jones about this, he clarified the urgency was not in the preseason as the wide receiver wouldn't be playing in preseason games.

"Well, CeeDee, you're missed. But you're not missed out here competing and it doesn't put any pressure any place on us," he said.

Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky has been very honest about the situation when speaking to ESPN and refused to cut Jones any slack for this risky and potentially disruptive approach.

He stated that Lamb missed training camp (due to Jones' shrewd tactics) and that consequences for the Cowboys could be severe. The QB added: "When these premier athletes miss time in training camp, usually there's something attached to either their performance or health that isn't on par with the expectations."

He then came in with some stats on X to explain that Lamb will not be able to put up the same numbers without proper preparation for the season.

"Ceedee in 2023

181 targets (1st)

135 catches (1st)

596 routes run (5th)

How can we expect that same volume/production without being in game shape?" he wrote.
