Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was discharged from the hospital on Sunday morning after suffering a significant shoulder injury during the team's preseason matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The injury occurred on the first offensive play of the game, prompting immediate concern as Brown was tackled awkwardly, leading to his early exit and subsequent hospitalization.

Brown sustained a sternoclavicular t sprain, a type of injury that often results from high-impact collisions.

According to sources, the injury has been compared to the one former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered in 2019.

Hill's injury required a reduction procedure but did not necessitate surgery, which appears to be the case for Brown as well.

After undergoing evaluation at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Brown was cleared to return to Kansas City.

The quick discharge suggests that the injury was successfully managed without the need for surgical intervention.

While this is positive news, Brown's recovery timeline remains uncertain, and his availability for the Chiefs' season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5 is now in doubt.

Chiefs don't expect Brown to play until regular season

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided a brief update on Brown's condition after the game, noting, "I think he'll miss some time. We'll just see where it's at... they're kind of going through it right now, and we'll know more later on."

Brown's injury is a significant blow for the Chiefs, who signed the veteran receiver to a one-year, $7 million deal this offseason.

Coming off a season with the Arizona Cardinals where he recorded a career-low 574 receiving yards and four touchdowns, Brown was expected to play a key role in Kansas City's offense.

In Brown's absence, the Chiefs will likely look to other receivers to step up.

Rookie Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, and Kadarius Toney are expected to see increased snaps, while Rashee Rice could also play a larger role depending on roster moves.
