- Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs reveal the playbook behind franchise best season and the path to repeat it
The NFL has officially released its full 2025 regular-season schedule, and one of the most talked-about matchups was quickly confirmed: a highly anticipated Super Bowl LIX rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
The game is set for Week 2 in Kansas City and will air in the national late-afternoon window on FOX.
Chiefs get early shot at redemption
While it's been known for months that the two teams would meet again this season, fans now have a confirmed date and time for Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce's rematch against Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and company.
The Eagles handed the Chiefs a humbling 40-22 defeat in February's championship game, marked by a relentless defensive effort that sacked Mahomes six times and pressured him on 17 occasions.
Since then, Kansas City has made significant moves to rebuild its offensive line, aiming to better protect its star quarterback.
The Chiefs placed the franchise tag on guard Trey Smith, signed tackle Jaylon Moore, traded Joe Thuney, and used a first-round pick on Josh Simmons.
Rookie Kingsley Suamataia is also being evaluated as a potential starter on the interior.
This rematch will serve as an early test for that restructured front five, particularly against the Eagles' elite rush led by Jalen Carter.
Despite the magnitude of the matchup, the NFL did not assign it to a prime-time slot.
Instead, the league is spreading the Chiefs' extensive national exposure across a variety of marquee windows.
Kansas City is scheduled to appear in 10 standalone games in 2025, including showdowns on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Meanwhile, the Eagles will feature in seven standalone matchups of their own.
Both teams bring strong narratives into the new season.
For the Chiefs, it's about bouncing back after falling short of a historic three-peat.
For the Eagles, it's a chance to reinforce their dominance and maintain momentum from a Super Bowl-winning campaign.
Fans already have their eyes set on Week 2 where they are expecting one of the season's most anticipated games, even without a prime-time spotlight.
