As the New York Jets search for a new general manager and head coach, the fate of Aaron Rodgers' tenure with the team hangs in the balance.
Team owner Woody Johnson has made it clear that the next leadership duo will determine the direction of the franchise, including Rodgers' future in a Jets uniform.
Aaron Rodgers' Jets future in limbo
In an exclusive interview with The Post's Brian Costello, Johnson acknowledged Rodgers' individual success but pointed out that the most important factor-winning games-hasn't materialized during his time in New York.
"The coach will have to decide what the quarterback situation is,"Johnson said.
"That's going to be a very important job for the general manager and the coach-what do we want and when do we get it, and where does Aaron Rodgers fit into that?"
Rodgers, who ed the Jets two seasons ago with hopes of revitalizing the franchise, has faced injury setbacks and inconsistent play.
His Achilles tear in 2023 effectively ended his season early, leaving the Jets' playoff aspirations in tatters.
Despite this, the future Hall-of-Famer made history in the final game of the regular season, throwing his 500th career touchdown , a milestone only reached by a handful of quarterbacks in NFL history.
With the Jets already in the midst of a leadership overhaul, the decision on Rodgers will be a crucial topic in the coming months.
The veteran quarterback, now 41, acknowledged after a season-ending win over the Dolphins that he's unsure of his future with the team.
"If they want to move on, I won't be upset or offended,"Rodgers said.
"If I still want to play, I'll let them know at some point."
As the Jets evaluate their next steps, the quarterback's status remains uncertain, and Rodgers himself appears to be preparing for any outcome.
Whether the Jets keep him or decide to move forward without him, the offseason promises to be a pivotal moment in the franchise's rebuilding process.
