Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans caught a 75-yard touchdown during the team's win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium to the legendary Jerry Rice as the only players in NFL history to string together 10 consecutive seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards.
Evans, 30, finished the contest with seven catches for 162 yards, increasing his season totals to 61 receptions for 1,012 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Rice, 61, set the league record of 11 consecutive seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards from 1986 through 1996 while playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
Evans, however, achieved the milestone through his first 10 seasons in the league (2014-2023). Rice's record started his second year in the NFL.
Mike Evans can beat Jerry Rice's record
Racking up 1,000 receiving yards in a single season is extremely rare in the NFL, so doing that 10 years in a row makes Evans one of the best WRs in history.
If he keeps up the pace for the next two seasons, which seems highly possible, Evans would leave Rice in the rearview mirror and become the most consistent receiver of all time.
Evans' performances in the 2023 NFL season have the Buccaneers in second place of the NFC South with a 5-7 record.
