Conor McGregor has sparked fresh speculation about his UFC career after a recent public appearance left fans questioning whether he'll ever step back into the Octagon. The former UFC champion hasn't competed in over three years, following a devastating leg injury in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

Although he was initially set to return against Michael Chandler in June, a broken toe forced him to withdraw, and the fight has yet to be rescheduled.

Despite McGregor's eagerness to fight again, with hopes of competing at UFC 310 in December, UFC President Dana White has indicated that fans may have to wait until 2025 to see him back in action.

No longer focused on fighting?

McGregor recently teased his return by sharing sparring footage, but later dampened excitement when he was spotted serving drinks at a New Jersey bar, promoting his Forged Irish Stout. This has led some fans to believe his focus may no longer be on fighting.

Even as his coach, John Kavanagh, insists McGregor is ready to compete as early as this month, doubts remain.

"If the [McGregor vs Chandler] date came back and was confirmed for September, we're already in heavy training, although we're training remotely together at the moment," Kavanagh told Lucky Block.

"He's stateside on I believe a Forged Irish Stout tour. He's visiting a couple of breweries over there but we're still sending each other training videos and training plans.

"He's got some training partners over there and in the footage I'm getting back, he's looking very sharp to me. If the date was now or in December, it would be a green light for me anyway."

McGregor's last victory was a quick knockout of Donald Cerrone in 2020, but he has since faced setbacks, including losses to Dustin Poirier and Floyd Mayweather in his brief boxing stint.
