Tom Aspinall continued his war of words with Jon Jones by calling him out again, before the UFC Interim Heavyweight champion turned his attention to Stipe Miocic by declaring he would fight them both on the same night, ahead of UFC 309.
Jones, the current UFC Heavyweight champion since March 2023, will face an ex-champion in the form of Miocic on November 16 as the pair finally book their eagerly anticipated fight night following a cancellation in 2023.
The November 16 date will be the first time they have fought in a combined total of 1953 days and if there is the risk of injury to either fighter, the United Kingdom's Aspinall, from Atherton near Manchester, declared he'll be ready to step in.
"I, of course, will be there to watch these two gentlemen go at it," Aspinall said on his YouTube channel. "I, of course, have told the UFC if anybody gets injured or for any other reason why nobody can make it to that fight, why one of them might pull out, I'm ready to go.
"If I need to, I'll fight both of them in the same night, no problem."
Since Miocic's loss to Francis Ngannou in March 2021, Aspinall has fought six times and won three Performance of the Nights, the interim heavyweight belt and managed to defend it with his only loss coming via knee injury.
He also avenged that loss to Curtis Blaydes in July 2024 as the 31-year-old emerged as the new big player in the UFC Heavyweight division, although he's yet to earn his shot at the belt from Dana White.
In light of that, Aspinall is pushing for the title fight and called Jones out after the Brit's win at UFC 304. And Jones has bitten back at the jibes, but so far there is nothing solid in the works to set the pair up.
"Jon's the undisputed champion, but I'm the best in the world if that makes any sense," Aspinall said after stopping Blaydes inside 60 seconds. "We know what Jon's doing. Jon was there, crossing his fingers and toes tonight hoping I'd lose to Curtis, let's not bulls**t about it.
"He posted about it loads anyway that I'm going to lose to him. That didn't happen, so that's the fight I want next."
When is UFC 309?
Jones and Miocic were initially forecast to fight at UFC 295 on November 11, 2023 but the clash was cancelled when the former ruptured his pectoral muscle and required eight months of recovery time.
As a result, the pair will face off on Saturday, November 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
