- UFC. Dustin Poirier calls Michael Chandler a 'bitch' and he is surprised to think that everything was settled between them
The immediate future of Ilia Topuria (16-0) is still to be written. While the most obvious seems to be a fight with Islam Makhachev (27-1), in the absence of official announcement rumors continue to appear... and suitors who want to aspire to the belt if Islam finally does not sign the fight with 'The Legend'. The latest? Arman Tsarukyan (22-3).
The Russian-born Armenian, who was born in Georgia, was Makhachev's main rival for the 155-pound throne until he was injured two days before facing the Dagestani at UFC 311 last January. He was sidelined with a back problem, Moicano took his place and Islam successfully defended his crown for the fourth time
After the Los Angeles event, Dana White hinted that Tsarukyan would have to earn the honor of being the title contender again... and he accepted that. But he does not seem to look favorably on Charles Oliveira (35-10, whom he defeated at UFC 300) being the one to take his place. And he has stated this several times; the latest on 'Monk3channel'.
"If Belal wins, Makhachev will stay at lightweight and fight Topuria. If Belal loses, Makhachev will fight Jack Della Maddalena, and I will fight for the vacant title (against Topuria)," was Arman's analysis of the UFC lightweight situation.
If Belal loses, Makhachev will fight Jack Della Maddalena, and I will fight for the vacant title against Topuria
It remains to be seen what will happen in the UFC in the coming days rather than weeks. The company led by Dana White and Hunter Campbell needs to announce its main events for UFC 317, in International Fight Week. There are less than two months to go... and nothing is known. Or rather, it is known that on that card. It remains to be seen who the opponent will be
