Bill Belichick has been one of the most constant faces on NFL touchlines ever and many fans still find it weird that he is no longer in charge of the New England Patriots.
Clearly, it can be difficult to go from being right in the thick of the action each week, to just being in the stands or in various studios discussing the action.
In order to make sure he still gets to have some involvement with the sport, Belichick has turned to the Washington Huskies in the NCAA.
Belichick finds a middle ground
He spoke to the Pat McAfee Show about how his son, Steve, has been hired as a defensive coordinator with the University of Washington, and that has allowed Bill to be very close to the action there.
He has even been sitting in on some meetings and the club seem very perceptive to any advice that he has to offer, as a multi-time Super Bowl-winning coach.
"It's nice to, just get back and watch some action going on in the field. You know, being around Steve and Jedd. It's just fun to watch what's going on and sitting in some meetings and watch players work," Belichick said.
He did think it was important to stress that Jedd Fisch is the man in charge of the team and it is not a situation where Belichick is pulling the strings behind the scene.
"Jedd's got the whistle. I'm just here to watch and, sometimes they ask me to look at something, or what I think about this without or whatever. Jedd does a great job with this program and look forward to following them during the year," he explained.
