The Colorado Buffaloes began their 2024 season on Thursday night, getting a scare from FCS powerhouse North Dakota State but holding on for the 31-26 win.

The defense was - just like last year - a major issue, with the Bison marching down the field on long drives throughout the game. But with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter (with Jimmy Horn Jr. also starring) at the top of their games, they helped carry the team over the finish line. Hunter was getting Heisman calls on social media, but Sanders is the one who may have swayed some haters with his play.

Sanders was simply outstanding all game. He finished with a whopping 445 yards on 26 completions (13.1 yards per attempt) and found the end zone four times. But even though his stats were fantastic, it was the way he got his yards that was most impressive.

Many football analysts detailed how "amazing" some of the plays he made on Thursday night really were. What stood out to most was his "toughness", which was on full display as he stood tall in the pocket and delivered strikes while getting hit.

His mobility and accuracy outside of the pocket was apparent, as was his ability to read and process coverages. Overall, Sanders may have changed the opinion of many critics with his performance. There's still a long way to go and tougher opponents ahead, but it was an A+ start for the senior.
