As the NFL season opener approaches, the excitement is building for the highly anticipated matchup between Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs and Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens.

While Lamar Jackson has attempted to downplay the significance of the game, calling it "just another game" and not a "revenge game," sports commentator Nick Wright sees it differently.

"Any game I play in, I feel like it's a revenge game," Jackson said. "I'm not just going to look at this game like a revenge game. Anybody we play, no matter if we've beaten them or lost to them in previous years, I just want to win."

During a recent episode of First Things First, Wright discussed the importance of the game, particularly for Jackson. He pointed out that Mahomes has historically had the upper hand in their matchups, with the Chiefs winning three out of four games against the Ravens.

Wright emphasized Mahomes' impressive statistics in these encounters, noting that he has averaged 354 ing yards, thrown 14 touchdowns, and maintained an exceptional er rating of 115.5 against the Ravens-numbers that far exceed his regular-season career average of 103.5.

In contrast, Jackson has struggled with turnovers in these games, which has been a major factor in the Ravens' losses.

"The Chiefs have owned him because Patrick Mahomes has thoroughly outplayed him in every spot in his career," Wright noted.

Could Jackson silence critics?

Wright argued that this makes the game one of the most significant of Jackson's career. He believes that a strong performance against Mahomes and the Chiefs could set the tone for the Ravens' season and help Jackson silence critics who question his ability to win big games.

On the other hand, another loss to the Chiefs could further fuel the narrative that Jackson struggles in high-pressure situations, particularly against elite competition.
