It seems that the end of the 'Jon Jones era' is closer than you would think.
Jones (27-1) has once again hinted at a possible retirement after the hypothetical fight against Stipe Miocic (20-4) that should take place in November at Madison Square Garden in New York.
"Fun fact: after this year, Jon Jones will never have to work again. He retired at age 37. Winning," Jon Jones wrote on Twitter in response to a message from a .
This is not the first time that Jones, considered by many the best fighter in the history of MMA has hinted at retirement after a possible victory against Miocic.
Could Jones continue?
And for a long time, that was the established plan: come back, defend the heavyweight title and then maintain his legacy as the best of all time. But now, the emergence of Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira has raised the possibility of a fight with Englishman or the Brazilian.... although 'Bones' doesn't seem willing.
Therefore, Jones' next fight looks to be a bout from 'another era' between two fighters who have been somewhat inactive in recent times. The idea is for it to be at UFC 309, scheduled for November 16 at Madison Square Garden.
If he does, he would defend the heavyweight belt he still holds despite Aspinall's interim title.
